Scholarship:
Since 1995, The Shippan Point Garden Club has awarded scholarships to graduating Stamford resident high school seniors who plan to attend college for the study of biology, environmental studies and related subjects. The Club’s May Market is the major source of funding for these scholarships.

Garden Activities for Seniors :
A monthly “Garden Project” is held for senior residents of ARK HealthCare and Rehabilitation. The popularity of these programs has greatly increased over time. The committee creates each program and then purchases the materials. The true rewards for our members are the smiles on the residents’ faces.
Monthly Projects include:
- Creating mini terrariums
- Painting pumpkins
- Making beaded jewelry
- Making a flower arrangement
- Painting wooden holiday trees
- Planting seeds for the upcoming season
Annual Holiday Project:
We work with other organizations to provide a “requested” gift for every resident. SPGC provides over 100 wrapped gifts. A new tradition is to provide 100 bags of home-baked cookies to thank the nurses and staff.
Gardening Outdoors:
The outdoors gardens are important to many residents. We have contributed two handicapped-accessible “VegTruk” planters and provided vegetables and flowers for the residents to plant and care for.
